NICHOLAS WHITING

NICHOLAS WHITING

I love to tell stories and make people laugh. That’s why I have the best job in the world. My name is Nicholas Whiting and I’m a screenwriter from Meanjin “Brisbane”, Queensland, Australia. Before I talk anymore about myself, I’d like to say welcome!

I graduated in 2017 from the Queensland University of Technology, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film, TV & New Media Production) with first class honours. During my final year, I also obtained an International Professional Certificate in Film and Television from the University of California, Los Angeles. As part of the certificate, I pitched to the likes of Randal Kleiser, the director of Grease (1978), who sent my sports drama, Bolo Punch, to the final round of the pitching competition.

In my final year of study, I successfully pitched and wrote the short comedy film, Share House Rules (2017), as well as being shortlisted in the Tasmanian Gothic Short Script Challenge 2017 for my horror script, They First Make Mad. After a hiatus from writing, where I spent time gaining more life experience, my short film, Share House Rules, has been reimagined as a series and is now currently in pre-production. I’m also working on my first feature length comedy screenplay, The Royal Weed Show.

My strengths lie in pitching, idea generation and screenwriting, where I specialise in comedy, but often write for various other genres. Don’t hesitate to contact me, as I look forward to collaborating with you!
